Newwork Magazine

The spreads from this issue of Newwork Magazine immediately captured my attention, mostly due to its unconventional use of typography and monochromatic nature. Newwork magazine is a biannual, large arts publication that features artists, art directors  photographers, and even high fashion. Each issue features a custom designed typeface that is used to create a different idea of the traditional newspaper format.

The 4th issue deals with artists and designers "harnessing the power of contrast in its various forms" which can be seen on the first spread to start things off. The bodies of copy are rotated around the margin of the second page which adds a physical element to the magazine. As the reader turns the magazine, the large image reacts in an interesting manner with the type.
