The front cover |
So, I chose Rolling Stone magazine for my example. They have quite the reputation for putting out a quality magazine bi-weekly. The famous "Rolling Stone" font used since their inception is called Royal Acidbath. Here we have an exclusive fanboy edition that is all about Peter Jackson's The Hobbit movie.

The Table of Contents |
The Table of Contents here is very clean and very legible. From the font choice, to the layout, its simple design has a sort of elegance to it that plays well with the Lord of the Rings "feel".

Overall, the Rolling Stoners did a great job integrating the movie content with the typography. When I was doing the preliminary browsing, I never felt like the layout or typography interfered with the visual content. I think if I were to exhibition catalog over the Middle Earth world, the fonts used here would be an excellent addition.
