Typejockeys Business Cards

This set of business cards from Typography (2010 Type Directors Club) make use of vintage style hand-lettered serifs. By placing the names at the top of the cards and having strong flow between the words in them, the designer is able to create a nice sense of hierarchy. The cards highlight the name of the company and person, while still allowing the concept and flow of the text to shine. A design client will appreciate the overall visual complexity and usability that the card reflects off of the firm. Although, the concept is clear and eye catching, I feel it does sacrifice some readability (but not enough to get in the way of how usable it is).

I love the idea of letting text flow together to create a nice rhythm for the reader. This is challenge because the type has to be hand-lettered and takes a lot more time and effort. Maybe one day, I'll be able to sit down and attempt it.
