Pioneers of Modern Typography: Bauhaus - FF Bau Typeface

Witam, mam na imię Karl Sosnowy!

Typeface: FF Bau
Classification: Sans-serif
Date of Creation: 2001
Designer: Christian Schwartz

FF Bau is inspired by the Grotesk types cast by the Schelter & Giesecke foundry in Leipzig, Germany. When Bauhaus moved to Dessau, Germany in the mid 1920's, the would use Grotesk in a vast amount of the classic experiments in asymmetrical typography.

So, the pictures I included here are great examples of the variety of use this font has. The first picture is a poster made by font creator Christian Schwartz in the classic Bauhaus experimental style. The last two images are screen shots from the movie 20 Tokyio 10, with captions using the FF Bau typeface. I think both examples are great at showing off FF Bau's legibility and bold style. Personally, As I am a big proponent on using simple legible fonts, I think this typeface will suite me well in the future and definitely will be under consideration when the exhibition project arrives.
