Less and More: Dieter Rams

I thought about doing a Dieter Rams exhibit for the next type project, but of course the internet already has several working examples of such an exhibit. Dieter Rams is one of the 20th centuries most influential industrial designers as head of Braun, the German consumer electronics manufacturer.

The type displayed throughout the exhibit has that same ultra sleek, Swiss-type aesthetic that Braun products are known for. The displays look like they came right off a radio cover or television set. From the wood floors to machine face panels that separate exhibit rooms, it really feels like you're walking within a Rams' designed product. Each panel section introduced relevant product elements like calculator layouts, hi-fi interfaces, and speaker grills. In the middle section, there is a recreated part of Ram's house which utilizes the same tile grid featured in his living room. I found this exhibit on Scott Hansen's blog, iso50
