Hello all!
So for this week's post I found a really interesting gallery guide for an exhibition called, The Renegades: American Avant-Garde Film, 1960-1972. The exhibition was held at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN.
I thought this was a really interesting find because of the very strict (and limited) color palette and the blatant grid. To me, it followed along the lines of the "avant-garde". It was curious that they set the body in a color rather than in the usual black. It was, however, a very smart choice as it helped the text stand out from the black and white pictures that are littered over the book. Switching the blue block of color from spread to spread also helped keep me interested and captivated my attention.
Overall, I think it's a well organized book and the organization is completely fitting with what the exhibition was about. Text, color, and imagery all come together to form a powerful and understood visual.
